Jackie’s Story

The best of both worlds

Jackie believes she’s had the best of both worlds during her 21+year career with InHealth. – being able to pursue a management career whilst maintaining a clinical role. With InHealth’s support she has introduced new learning initiatives for the cardiac team such as training in Safer Sedation, Medicines Management and Respiratory Skills, all of which enhances the safety and care nurses in particular are able to deliver to their patients.

With InHealth’s support, Jackie has achieved a number of postgraduate diplomas including a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Management. More recently, she wanted to make a change in her work-life balance and spend more time on clinical aspects of her role. Jackie and her manager were able to develop a job profile which gave her increased clinical focus and provided her with additional days to spend more time with family and her hobbies!

Following Jackie’s invaluable contribution at the InHealth Cardiac Cath lab at St Peters Hospital, she was recognised through a promotion to a Regional Operations Manager role. This offered her the opportunity to manage additional modalities including Audiology, ENT, MRI, CT as well as her role as the Clinical Cardiac Lead. Her great work in Cardiac continued, resulting in another promotion to Head of Cardiac Operations.

Jackie believes she’s had the best of both worlds – being able to pursue a management career and still maintain a clinical role which helps to keep her close to patients and the quality care we deliver to patients. She has benefited from development investment including a Diploma in Management Studies, funded by InHealth, and has completed a Masters in Healthcare Studies, studying 1 day a week for 2 years.
